MSTRKRFT and John Digweed to Carry Out Dance Fan Fantasies
Date: Wednesday, January 24 2007
Topic: DJ News
First annual Diamond tour pairs unlikely couple.
John Digweed's tech-inspired sets and the electro punk anthems of MSTRKRFT will hook up in March to create what organizers promise will be dance floor nirvana. March 1 begins the19-date major club appearances for the first ever 'DIAMONDS TOUR,' where the two distinct electronic musicians (along with special guests) plan to transform the club experience to something, producers say, fans have been searching for in a lineup.
Tour co-producer, Michael Gorman of Last Gang Promotions, said "the unique combination of JOHN DIGWEED and MSTRKRFT is something we had wanted to do for a long time and are thrilled to see it finally transpire". Looking for the most musically-charged bash of the year? Gorman thinks the need for something different on the club circuit is what inspired the DIAMONDS tour and he believes "These parties are destined to fulfill the fantasies of every dance music fan".
A tall order considering the average electronic music fan's appetite for inspiration, but DIAMONDS is off to a promising start. High profile club appearance are scheduled to dominate the spotlight throughout March 2007 at venues like Ruby Skye in San Francisco, Vanguard in Los Angeles, Blue in Atlanta and Pacha in New York. Music industry insiders will also have their shot at critiquing the unique pairing during SXSW in Austin (March 16 at SPIN) and the Winter Music Conference in Miami (March 20 at Pawn Shop).

When it comes to danger, cigarettes and alcohol beat ecstasy, LSD and cannabis, according to a league table of the harm they cause.
The UK Science and Technology Select Committee, which advises the government, commissioned an assessment of 20 legal and illegal stimulants to examine the actual social and physical harm they cause based on scientific evidence.
Controlled drugs are currently categorised to reflect the penalties they incur for possession and dealing. The highest category, class A, carries the largest legal penalties and includes heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and magic mushrooms. Class B includes speed and barbiturates, while cannabis and some tranquillisers are in class C.
However, the new league table puts alcohol in the top five most harmful drugs, alongside heroin, cocaine, barbiturates and street methadone. Ecstasy and LSD, currently categorised as class A drugs, come well below both tobacco and alcohol.

At this point, we met a Dallas DJ named Paisley and he took a beautiful blonde and Erran on a side adventure while the rest of the team drank at Reno’s. They quickly moved through a side door, across the street, in one side of a bar and out the other, across another street and into a hip-hop club for a quick stage appearance where the host MCs blessed our road trip and almost torched Erran’s throat with some rather aggressive shots. They broke out back to Reno's where they gathered the Atlanta boys and a couple girls and headed out the front. Rain then chased us into our friend Elizabeth’s SUV. Elizabeth goes by the affectionate moniker The Antichrist. We took a quick trip to yet another bar named Republic.

From the Blog of El Kickstando the Leprechaun
In my previous blog, I referred to the Maxim Road Trip as something of an impending human tragedy. The flip side of tragedy, however, is the way it gives the human spirit an outlet to shine brightest. Heroes and legends are born. Major organs like kidneys and livers are sacraficed on the alter of greatness while Jagermeister conducts the tempest.
I cannot speak of the details just yet, as the most thorough recounting of the trip will, with any cosmic justice at all, appear in the pages of Maxim magazine. Look for Team Armada. What I can speak of is the most amusing aspect of those details, which is how hazy and ephemeral they are. Over dinner last night, we filled in the gaps in one another's memories, with the words "Oh, man, I forgot about that" being uttered repeatedly. One team member's version of the story was essentially, "I arrived in Dallas and had a shower. Then I went home. Stuff happened in between. I'm not sure what."
I want to say thank you to everyone who came out with us. Some quick shouts, in no particular order, to:

ATL came to town this weekend and we burned Dallas down. I've had at least 4 showers since Saturday night and still can't get my VIP stamps off the back of my hand, have major DT shakes and haven't put anything nutritious other than Jager, Goose, some Miller Lite into my body. I am still scared of food and have just started with the water. Today's workouts will be hell.

The jukebox at the bar Brian Toro manages isn't gathering dust just yet -- but it may only be a matter of time. The popular nightspot is among a growing number of places across the country where people can bring their iPods and other portable music players and, for as long as the bartender allows, share their personal favorites with the crowd. "Everybody wants to be a DJ," says Toro, a 29-year-old Californian who recently moved to Chicago and now manages Bar Louie in the city's Gold Coast neighborhood. "People enjoy having a little control in their lives."
One-pot cooking used to be the exclusive domain of bachelors, campers and college students just moved away from home. Meals were quick, simple and often right out of the box. The concept was great - just one pot to wash, but the meals could be quite uninspired. Here are a few variations on the "one-pot" theme, which broaden the possibilities for creative cuisine, while maintaining the simplicity and energy savings of one-pot cooking.

Club ONE entered the Dance Club arena in 1991 at a time when the music and not so much the talent behind the music was important to the Dance Music scene. As one of the few surviving nightclubs in Dallas, Club ONE changed ownership in the fall of 2004. The new owners, knowing that the dance scene had become more about the talent and the music, chose to refresh, refurbish and improve on Club ONE’s long standing tradition rather than attempting to create a new ONE. “Not gONE but re-dONE!!!” has been their theme.
Club ONE, as a venue, works with various promoters and groups, both straight and gay, to bring a variety of entertainment to their wide customer base. The ONE philosophy has always been that “everyone is welcome (18 with proper ID).” With the production and maintenance of our web-site, they hope to keep their customer base well informed as to past events and up-coming events, so be sure to take a little time to browse their website.
Their music is DJ driven and in the past years, many well-known DJ’s have spun at Club ONE. It is known around the world for top quality sound and lighting. Under the new ownership alone we have hosted several top 20 DJ’s and their list will continue to grow with time.

For years, Subway regular Brandy Littleton kept business-size cards with tiny stamps on them in her purse. She loved the Sub Club, a reward system that allowed studious customers to earn free meals every time a card filled up with stamps.
"I eat here all the time," she said. "It made sense. I collected them for years, and I was upset when they were gone."

August 16, 2005 Experiments for NASA space missions have shown that small amounts of edible meat can be created in a lab. But the technology that could grow chicken nuggets without the chicken, on a large scale, may not be just a science fiction fantasy. In a recent paper in the Tissue Engineering journal, a team of scientists has proposed two new techniques of tissue engineering that may one day lead to affordable production of in vitro - lab grown - meat for human consumption. It is the first peer-reviewed discussion of the prospects for industrial production of cultured meat. "There would be a lot of benefits from cultured meat," says University of Maryland doctoral student Jason Matheny, who studies agricultural economics and public health. "For one thing, you could control the nutrients. For example, most meats are high in the fatty acid Omega 6, which can cause high cholesterol and other health problems. With in vitro meat, you could replace that with Omega 3, which is a healthy fat.
Scientists hope to use a new mathematical technique to detect red tides, or toxic algae in the ocean, before infected shellfish can make people green. Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University are working with various government offices to develop a "spatiotemporal" data mining system for finding and tracking toxic algae blighting North American waters. The toxins cannot only kill marine life, but also cause many people illness upon eating tainted shellfish.
